About Crowd6
Crowd6 are a Birmingham based contemporary art group, who have been organising exhibitions and events in Birmingham from early 2007 to late 2011.
Crowd6 was formed by Elizabeth Short, Steven Varndell, Naomi Randall and Jamie Randall, all of whom are creative practitioners based in the West Midlands. Crowd6 begain it’s life in a shop in Bearwood in Birmingham. During the 18 months in which the Crowd6 space was open, Crowd6 organised, exhibited and curated 13 events and exhibitions ranging from wall based work, spoken word nights, performance, video and installation. Crowd6 gallery space was also used in the national daytime television show Doctors where actors from the show walked around the space and talked about art. Elizabeth Short and Jamie Randall can be seen in this episode as special extras in the background!
Since the closure of the Crowd6 space the group have been actively involved with Birmingham Contemporary Arts Forum and were involved in The Event 2009. During the Event Crowd6 exhibited in The Lombard Method, a curated show by Crowd6 featuring work of its founders.
Crow6 took part in the successful artist led festival The Event 2011 in November 2001 with showcasing two of it’s founders work along with two international artists.
In 2012 Crowd6 have hung up their curation / art hats and begun to archive the 6 years worth of projects that they were involved with. The members of crowd6 do however continue to work on their own arts practice and are planning some exciting things to come!
