We are a Birmingham based contemporary art group. We've been organising exhibitions and events in Birmingham since April 2007, and it's our mission to keep showcasing the best artistic talents, and expose them to wider audiences.
A Big Thankyou to all who braved the November cold to see What Takes Place, Crowd6's artistic contribution to 2009's The Event, and a special thanks to the Lombard Method who kindly hosted the show. All at Crowd6 feel really pleased about the show, it looked great in the space and high visitor figures throughout the event made sitting in the cold a merry experience.
Rather frustratingly, we didn't manage to get the wbesite up and running on time for The Event, but now the show is over, the site is rapidly coming together. Our web designer SVarndell (also one of the founders of Crowd6), is working hard to get it running, and images and details from recent shows, as well as a blog and back catalogue of events will be on show in this corner of the web very soon.
The group consists of four lead members; Naomi Bulmer, Jamie Randall, Elizabeth Short and Steve Varndell.
Crowd6 began in an empty shop in Bearwood in April 2007, running 13 events and exhibitions over a period of 18 months.
The Bearwood shop space was an excellent platform, allowing us to experiment and experience running a not-for-profit space, producing exciting and varied shows and exhibitions.
After closing the Bearwood shop space in early 2008, Crowd6 have been working on the steering group for Birmingham Contemporary Arts Forum. BCAF is an aritst-led initiative, formed with the aim of running a Birmingham based contemporary art festival entitled The Event. The Event gained Arts Council and Lottery funding in early 2009 and is about to hold it's second artist-led festival.
After The Event Crowd6 plan to continue to showcase talent and is aiming to work on its own professional development. So watch this space.....
